Stupid, cheap, unfair

How my deaths happen in this game. T5 lvl 74 zero progress because I get killed by the worst unavoidable attacks in almost every map. Save that stuff for the highest maps, not the noob ones. Ffs

If it makes you feel better, I died to an off screen mob that cast a ground spell while I was looking at a ritual inventory.

Just make your build better, you will soon realise that even doing your build extremely well, there is literally no way to scale damage and defenses so high to immortality...Something will go bad...You either have high damage and glass cannon, either have moderate damage and somehow high defensive, either the other way around...

The only problem is that even in poe2 thy just had to make you scale affixes from the map onto mobs making some of them very deadly due to overlapping of affixes on them.

It's the way it is in poe since forever. No chance you are hitting the d4 style .

Despite what some say, even if you make your build better there will always be unavoidable 1 shots and off screen spells, no matter how much you get good.

The only way to counter it is to quit your job and grind non stop to get God tier gear and use a meta build.

Learning to use the trade system and building for a long term goal helped a ton. I went from struggling with anything higher than t4 or t5 to routinely running T15+ content just by investing some exalted gems to get started and slowly grinding toward better gear.

So this is so far removed from my experience it’s almost unfathomable.

I’m level 72, just started mapping. I’m running an extremely off meta build, a dual mode poison / snipe deadeye which utilizes contagion to spread debuffs. Tier 5 maps are extremely comfortable and consistent for me and the levels and progress are rolling in.

When I first started mapping at 67 I got rolled a few times because I hadn’t upgraded my gear since the start of cruel mode really, hadn’t even bothered upgrading my skill gems or using my jewelers orbs or t3 support gems since it hadn’t been needed. My evade percentage was like 40 and my resists were on average in the 30s. To be honest I had let it get that bad in hopes of instilling some extra challenge into cruel mode that never really materialized; I had really hoped Viper would force me to actually do some upgrades but no such luck. She did kill me a couple times thanks to poor mechanical execution but wasn't much more than a speed bump, no upgrades needed.

So after getting into maps and dying like 3x in the first 4 maps, I actually did some upgrades. Spent total 40 Exalteds on gear upgrades, so the profits from the sale of 1 white sapphire ring +10. Got my evade percentage back to 70, got all resists capped, optimized my passive tree by the bare minimum amount, used my jeweler's orbs and skill and support gem upgrades. And immediately was rolling comfortably up to and including T7, the highest I've seen so far.

Now, I'm not saying I'm ready to take on Pinnacle bosses or anything, but I'm certainly not dying all the time in T5s. No grinding, no god tier items, no meta build, and no problems. I'm not saying this to brag. I'm hardly a god tier gamer, but that's just the thing. I'm a filthy casual who plays like 30 minutes a day and probably spends as much time on the forums on lunch breaks and while waiting for the kiddo to fall asleep as I do actually playing the game. So I literally do not understand how your experiences are so different and how people could be struggle bussing so hard. Are your resists maxed? What's your EHP pool look like? What's your build?

My build is worth way less than 20 divs...more like 10+...

Cruising through T15s and working towards pinnacle bosses...Bonestorm is not meta but scales soooo well.
