Mini league question

So I started playing yesterday and now I hear that a mini league is starting on the 20th. The FAQ says you need to make a new char to play it but does this effect me? Can I continue this char in this season? without playing the mini league?

It does not affect you in any way. You can continue playing your character as if nothing happened.
