Amulet takes away my energy shield

I just traded for an amulet that should be increasing my energy shield. Instead it removes it completely. I gave it to a guild member to try out, it works fine for him

It would be very helpful to get some more information. What amulet are you swapping for which other amulet? Are you using Eldritch Battery? If so and you have Everlasting Gaze on you (which converts your Mana to Energy Shield AFTER Eldritch Battery) and you put on another amulet which has a fix to increase your Energy Shield, you wont have any Energy Shield on you because of Eldritch Battery.
