I Redeemed my friends extra code on steam now it says invalid code on POE website. help please

i redeemed the code on steam and it says i still need an acess code when i try to play so i tried to redeem it on the website as i read in several forums. it just says invalid code. so i tried the other code he had, that also says invalid code. what do i do?
