Hacking without notifications. Divine Orb's stolen. PoE 2.
Good day, friends! After the January hype with "stolen accounts, currency", of course, like many, I thought it was a lie and an attempt to create hype. And even if it was true, I was sure that this would not happen to me, however...
So, the input data: The game was purchased on Steam. Before that, I had POE 1, also through Steam. I used Overwolf. 2FA is enabled on my Steam account. There were no notifications about third-party logins, in the Steam account, logins in the last months were only from me. Yesterday I farmed cards for a day, when I went to bed, I left POE 2 on. In the evening I needed to exit the game to help a colleague with work, I exited the game for literally 5 minutes. When I returned, my 17 divine orbs were stolen. The rest of the inventory was untouched (maybe they didn't have time to transfer it). In an attempt to figure out the issue, I found that on the POE website you can link an EMAIL ADDRESS TO AN ACCOUNT, my account didn't have an email link at all (I didn't think that such a thing existed). Now the email address on the POE website is linked to my account. I deleted Overwolf now. I don't use third-party VPNs. I only used the official game trade and didn't follow any third-party links. Moreover, to send requests to buy items, I used ANOTHER POE ACCOUNT on the trade, which doesn't even have the POE 2 game. A request was made to GGG technical support with a similar description of the situation as here. I feel broken, because I spent 80 hours only on acts (this is my first time playing a game of this genre). Yes, for experienced players 17 divine orbs is NOT ENOUGH, but for me, after DAYS of grinding BREACH SPLINTERS, it is puzzling. If you bought the game on Steam and did not link your email on the POE website to your account, please do it now. Thank you for your attention. " Maybe you put the divines in the wrong tab? Or the "hacker" was in your house at that time, lol. I really think a random hacker would target someone richer... Last edited by 6_din_49#4066 on Feb 10, 2025, 3:03:53 PM

I'm working to make a difference for those who got scammed by creating a post compendium for everyone. Let's unite and make our voices heard. I’d really appreciate it if you visited the post and linked yours. You can check it out here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3720393

@6_din_49#4066 in order not to cause an active resonance in society, it is easier to take little by little. Apparently, you do not leave the house and know nothing about crime in real life.
The victims in poe 2 are those who put up expensive items, for example, from 60 d. Perhaps the burglar is the buyer, I do not know. But there are enough precedents of theft. And many do not report it. |
