The positive outlook after two months.
![]() ![]() ![]() In corporate capitalism what matters is annual or quarterly revenue, which is why the early access had an entry fee unlike PoE1 that's been releasing F2P content / leagues through a decade. The whales have dwindled and the PoE2 early access player base after two months. There's already plenty of negativity and criticism, which is why this thread purpose will be different, discussing the positive outlook of both games, company, and most importantly your benefits. 1) Less supporters + players means the remaining will have more voting power, including each dollar earned will matter a lot more to the company. 2) It means GGG can and probably will go through more changes or adjustments from employees, lead developers and finally ownership. 3) It means PoE1 will matter a lot more (for the PoE1 enjoyers) 4) It means there can and probably will be changes to the current F2P monetizing model for more frequent content/leagues. Example, if new content / leagues became DLC, well they would arrive with better polish and overall quality, and there will be less server cost + load including botting issues. When all remaining players pay their equal share, well GGG won't depend on whales as much as it's been so far for future development and maintenance. 5) When the PoE playerbase goes back to being more niche so will the product and this can be a good thing. There is a place or space for different markets. Personally, online RPG that offers a great competition matters, because for me the content is the community that I compete with/against, which means the game needs to consistently challenge me along the rest from start to finish (less time sinks) so I have more opportunities in what I can do (to separate) during a timed league or event. Sharp drops after release is pretty normal honestly. But I am done with the game now 100%. Tired of this studio jealously protecting meta build, stealth nurf other builds that threaten it (I am looking at you chaos dmg skills). The devs don't really know what they are doing, or maybe they do and they lied (I am sure its the second one). Well, I did play about 4 weeks so I got my moneys worth out of it so no biggie, there is other games out there after all. The guys that still play, hope it says enjoyable for you all, no shade.

When it comes to online "live service" games 2010-2014 was a lot more competitive, while GGG back then was also an indie company. Now, PoE overall is in a much better state and that's the other positive thing GGG can use going forward.

" This is an EA. Main goal is to test what works and what doesn't, and allows devs to iterate on the game. Come back in a year if you want to see a fully polished game. Last edited by BaconDC#9092 on Feb 8, 2025, 8:42:01 PM
