latency???
what is with the latency issues all of a sudden? game keeps pausing for a second every few seconds like its stuttering. keep getting killed due to this! checked my ISP, nothing. reset router, nothing! checked for all available updates, all current! did some research and it appears to be server side latency issues. any idea on when this will be addressed?

Came here to ask the same question - exactly the same issues here.
Internet fine, 290MB/s down with 11ms ping... POE2 latency is all over the place, jumping from 10ms to 200ms or even 500ms for half a second every few seconds. ![]() Last edited by Spaceboy#1628 on May 17, 2025, 4:01:49 PM

Since the last update something is borked. I have a system which is capable of running everything in the gaming sector properly (NVidia 3090Ti 24G, 128GB Ram, all on NVMe, yada yada). My cores are never sweating, I have 1G on cable which is always around 900-1100M. Coretemp, GPUtemp, Crystaldiskinfo, all clean. The system is bored by PoE2 to the bone - no surprise - watercooling.I run the latest games with full 4k/high/ultra without problems...
But PoE2 0.2.0h+: stuttering, stuttering, stuttering. Completely going down with everything from high/ultra to low does NOTHING (despite it is unlogic by data). Changing the server works for a couple of minutes then it starts again. Frames have 60FPS fix/17ms with no problems, Network is always around 15-30ms max. The only thing which partly starts ticking is the shader bar. I deleted all shader data (like on youtube recommended), deactivated Windows Optimization in the compatibility prefs, DPI scaling is now done by PoE2 - no changes. It seems clear that this game has some serious issues with servers. It started esp. with the Mage and a Fireball setup for me (at the same time the last update has been shipped). Stacking of a couple of "meta" in combination with Fireballs all over the screen is the worst - despite my system has no issues at that moment (GPU-Z, CoreTemp, CPU-Z, ...). It is the same case with other toons and other setups - a bit less stutter but it is present. The system is bored while this happens. So I come to the conclusion this must be a server issue. Changing to a new instance does not the trick either. I tried different servers and it is highly annoying to change the server every 5min to be able to play. Esp. the Orbits (Solar Orbit, Orb of Storms) react sometimes only after the 2nd or 3rd click. The data seems to be mostly handled at the server instead of letting the PC do his job. My PC is bored to the bone. For the most expensive pay-to-play "BETA" game ever this is highly annoying... Swapping servers seems doing the job at least for a short time. I assume that everybody is doing that. It does not matter if the ping is 15ms or 60ms+. I had a good stable gameplay for 10-15min on 60ms+ but horrible stuttering on 15ms. Frankfurt is worst while the ping is the fastest. It seems everything in the "west" is bad while everything in the "east" maybe slower but more reliable. I could joke that Palatir needs to much traffic or - the usual in the west: Putin has hacked PoE2 - but I am pretty sure, that this has potential for optimization. my 2 cents... |

What's to look at with latency? It makes sense for a company to drive away players by cheaping out on servers, no? Stop and think for a second before you are so negative!! If they drive players away by making the game unplayable, fewer players are online to purchase MTX fun stuff. In addition to that, fewer items are available on the trade site, the game experience online feels like SSF whether you are in a SSF league or not, and more!!
It's a win-win-win to have poor server performance, poor geographical server coverage, and for players to ultimately abandon PoE2 and GGG. What's the beef with you disliking, "Project Exodus?" |
