California (US) Gateway
Hi there,
Judging by the variation in connection latency, I think there are multiple different servers when a gateway is selected in-game (might depend on the gateway). I live in Southern California. Some instances I get 3~12ms and some instances I get the baffling 70+ ms connection latency (no fluctuation, just separate servers with different pings). I'm not sure if the server for the latter is even in California physically. For comparison I get 70ms to Canada East too. ![]() ![]() So my question is: 1. Why is there a "California (US)" server which gives me such high latency? 2. Is there a way to make sure I do not get that non-optimal California server? Just not to get that high latency server(s), I'm having to pick Texas (US) gateway which gives me 40ms all the time. This doesn't make sense to me, having to pick a farther server than where I actually live but maybe there's an explanation behind it. Thanks for reading. I am also confused by this. Today, after this patch was implemented, I am now at 70 ish ms (same as Texas) instead of normal 30 ish ms. I am not sure what is going on. I am in Washington.

could a GGG team member please move this post to Technical Support subforum?
I'm wondering if there's a way to make sure I always get in the Los Angeles based server in my case instead of the other high latency one. Like could I maybe block the IP address(es) for those in my firewall settings or something like that? Or would that cause me to get disconnected while trying to join the game or enter a new map? |
