When Settlers of Kalguur Transfers to Standard

PoE1's core identity was known for the absence of gold, making the game unique to other ARPGs. Since the Settlers' league it has opened the door for gold to remain in use (which has issues I'll talk about).

Since PoE2 uses gold, why can't PoE1 keep its old identity? Shouldn't PoE1 and PoE2 be different games?

The lack of streamlining in PoE1 is its main issue. Now we have gold and Orbs of Regret. Just like how Alchemy Orbs were thrown under the bus for Essences. We've experimented with gold in PoE1 this league, why can't we let it rest? Maybe having an Auction House (optional like ssf) would stop riots if Faustus is removed, but gold doesn't fit in PoE1. It would be gross to see gold drops in standard league if Settlers ever does end.

They havent given us any hints yet on what will go core and what won't.

However, people will riot if Faustus is removed, which means gold is probably here to stay.

Agreed, I think Fastus (currency exchange) is here to stay. Automated trading of commodity items seems to sidestep most of the issues with automated trading because of the sheer amount of commodity items.
Thanks for all the fish!
