current ascendency's honor system is bad game design

I'm not against having class upgrades locked behind something, when done in a fun way. example boss fights or quests, or even level locked. the entire trial system for unlocking on paper seems good, and has the opportunity to be a fun and a challenging way to do this. However including the honor system in its current form, combined with the amount of levels (floors) you have to go through is needlessly complicated and dragged out. it feels like a big waste of time to be perfectly honest. as if the only reason it is implemented is to waste your time. which it probably is.

For context im not saying Ascendency's are too difficult, losing honor by getting hit and DYING from it is just plan stupid. it is a form of "artificial" difficulty for which i cant stand. And adds to needless complication. which if you didn't know is the MAIN reason no new players want to even try poe 1.

I can see maybe losing it per death, or trial failed, or using it as a currency for loot or debuffs within the trial. example : spend honor when selecting floor to negate debuff or to change trail type or reward type. i think the main theme of the trials being more like a dungeon or arena would be better suited for the end boss's you inevitably fight. there are many other ways of making the trials more difficult, like by making better level design with tougher golden mobs ( Appropriate for the level).make the debuffs more severe, making players choose floors more carefully. Or instead of floors have multiple bosses back to back, or a boss per floor, with themes for each trial . or you know just get rid of the honor system because it s dumb . How is it dishonorable to get hit anyway ? it doesn't even makes sense.
