Atlas Waystone Map System Feedback
So, I really enjoy the game. Much the same as I enjoyed POE1. Getting into endgame waystone/mapping is a job though to get set up. And for all the work needed to get an area set up, you more than likely only get 3-4 good waystones in before the map area is depleted of good layout maps or the map mods you want for those waystone points. Its a lot of setup and work to for anyone to just jump into the game and use it as stress relief. Its like a second job I need to do after a long day job just to enjoy maybe 3 hours of waystone mapping.
POE1 i was able to farm currency to exchange for the exact maps I wanted, traded for any scarabs I wanted to juice those said maps, and then ran the layout I wanted all night long and enjoy just running through maps all night long. That setup after I farmed the currency I needed took me maybe an hour to get a backpack of T16 maps running. And those T16 maps were dropping lvl 81+ gear. I also had them rolled for any map mods I wanted to run be it breach, expedition or whatever I wanted. And was able to change them if I wanted to run something different. Bored of expedition, do breach. Bored of breach do Delirium. Or I could Alk and go on a map I liked to run. POE2 I need to run through and explore areas with good map/tower layouts. That process can take up to 20-30 maps and since I'm not a 20 hour play day streamer, I usually just give up and go to the closest cluster of towers because I have kids and stuff that RL takes up. Then you need to path around and hope you don't lose any good maps already rolled and clear to the towers all over. After that comes the process of throwing Tablets into those towers with the mods you want. To get the tower modifiers you want you need to roll 1-2 bank slots worth of tablets. And you most likely run 2-3 different event types like ritual and breach. The easy part is being able to run distilled emotions on waystones to juice them up further. I can trade for waystones and tablets. I can roll those with traded currency, sure. But now to get drops 81+ I need T16 maps and have to get at least 2 precursor tablets into my towers, and pray they hit the maps of the 40 or so around the towners. And hope that they pop up on my Delirium, breach, ritual, expedition map points there. Getting T16 maps is like 1 in 20 Vaals of T15 waystones. And if I want those T16's delirium juiced all 20 of the T15's need to be distilled. It's a crazy amount of resources to get to the point where you can get a bunch of T16's to run. And ontop of that, in order to get the lvl82 items to drop you need T16 and +1 monster level and +1 corruption (or that 30% proc of boss chance for corrupted maps). The sheer amount of farming in that lvl82 area for a good drop takes 20+ maps. There's a bunch of different layers going on end game that add extra work in order to do the enjoyable end game content at that higher level consistantly. I have nights where I just give up and do something else instead of running maps like I used to enjoy in POE1. I have one or two nights a week where I am set up to run waystones. I don't mind the atlas map. Think the towers are a cool addition to the system. Wish you could somehow instill the type of map and have the Atlas map points blank. That alone would make end game more bearable and fun. At least it would give me some more control in the endgame where there is zero control and its all RNG. Last bumped on Feb 1, 2025, 11:38:40 PM
