GGG is dead

One thing I always respected about GGG was their interactions with their players. I would always feel well informed about what they were working on just by visiting the home page and scanning the news which were updated every day or two.

Things have changed, and not for the better. The only updated we have heard since the latest patch was two sorries, one for lack of customer support and one for dropping POE1 now that the cash cow is here. Not a very good look for GGG. Tell us what you are doing to improve, not how you fucked up.

I am starting to suspect the people that think this was a blatant cash grab might have been right. What is the point on wasting time and money on a game when the player count is going to be dropping anyway? Milk them from what its worth as soon as the game drops, and then forget about them immediately, since you got max returns there and the rest are diminishing.

Not the GGG of old who seemed to care for their players. Just a bunch of short term profit chasers now.

You’re obviously right. Any good company would release hourly updates, or better yet just mandate all their developers live stream on Twitch at all times so you can see *exactly* what they’re doing. It’s standard practice in the industry, them failing to do so means they don’t care about the players and have clearly abandoned the game. They last released a statement explaining what they’re doing and working on and the current situation what, like 2 days ago? That’s basically no communication at all. You should really drop the game, they obviously have.

New players got that impression as they were posting on X every 20 minutes back in December.

That was not an update, that was damage control. If there were an update, we would see an "Patch Note Preview" in the EA Announcements forum.

You realize that they're working on a balance patch, the first balance patch, in a game where balance is currently all over the place and needs dramatic fixes? Do you also realize that with a game with classless skill systems and as much interactions as this game has, it's not just about skills in isolation but how mechanically they combine with each other?

If they say 'herald of thunder is getting its damage reduced', as an example, 3 days from now that may no longer be true as instead they're doing a limit on its maximum proc rate. That might change to an increase in spirit reservation coupled with an inability to get triggered from certain "add on" effects, etc etc etc.

What exactly are they supposed to be providing in the patch notes preview, other than an economy reset and balance revisions across the board, which is what they already indicated was next on the agenda 3 weeks ago?

They need to change, test, iterate, and try to bring speific mechanical combinations in line with other abilities which are no joke an order of magnitude or more apart in their power levels. Ideally while leaving the base abilities still viable within other combinations which do not have the same absurdly OP end results based on differences in how they interact. And do so ASAP, given that folks have rightly indicated the current balance level and knock-on effects on the economy (zoomer OP builds lead to massive currency farms leading to inflation, as an example) are in their opinion ruining the game experience. That's not a small thing nor something you easily "preview".

If they are working on all these things, should they not at least give us a glimpse of what their final goals are? I don't care the exact values they are trying to tweak or the skills they will nerf or buff, but at least some sort of acknowledgement that there are issues and they are trying to fix them.

They have an entire team to deal with community, as evidenced by their non stop post deletions and bans, so put some of it to chronicling the general state of GGG and what they might be shooting for in fixing the game's shortcomings.
Absolutely something is completely not ok.
Making hot fix for steam for 2 months is not a good result of beta.

This explains all:

Last 30 days 340,962 -237,607 -41.1%

It's a bit frustrating to check everyday forum for something new.
Previous week nothing, absolutely nothing. Just 1min video with apologies.

Feels that they are in trouble.
I agree with you, a small sign of life would personally make me very happy and motivate me to keep waiting.
The game is good but sadly it need weekly update on small stuff that take 1 afternoon to fix,There is tons of those but right now they MIA for some reason so they need to wake the fuck up and do way way more small update.
