Trials of the super annoying to get the 4th ascendancy
The RNG in the Trials HAS to be adjusted for fucks sake. Too much RNG decides whether you succeeded or fail. I'm a working adult with a child and limited time to play. I don't have the divines to pour into gear and it's totally up to chance depending on the boons or afflictions granted whether I get through to the 4th ascendancy. I have a good build, the DPS is there and I've almost completed it, but if you don't have the movement speed boon or the damage boon or any kind of damage mitigation/resistance boon and the afflictions have piled up, you are just cooked. I don't mind a challenge but its seems there is just too much chance involved if you can't afford stupid high DPS.

I feel it's part of their philosophy on "friction".
I'm guessing they think that we players need to occasionally just fail misearbly regardless of what we do, as if hit by lightning or earthquake, and that somehow would make us appreciate the successes more and feel more rewarded. It's the same theme with how stingy the currency drops are. Because we can literally count on one hand the number of exalts that drop per Act, it is somehow supposed to make the experience better. Start the players off on a horribly negative baseline, that'll make players appreciate everything more and love the game more. That seems to be POE2's core design philosophy. |
