elemental penetration quick question

does penetration come of capped res or uncapped res?

if i have 75(120) and run a map that has monsters penetrate 25% elemental resistances. does that come off the 75 or 120?

iirc, it will come off your uncapped resistances.

Hold ALT and hover the cursor over the tooltip text for penetration (in-game).

It doesn’t care about the 120% uncapped res. Penetration will always be deducted from the actual value, so the capped one. But it can’t penetrate below 0. So even if you only have 10% res, 25% pen will bring it down to 0 and not -15.

Having Penetration in a damage type reduces the effective resistance of enemies you damage with that type, thus increasing the damage they take. It stacks with exposure and curse debuffs, but is applied last and is only effective against positive resistances; it has no effect once the effective resistance 0 or negative. In exchange, it affects both maximum resistance and uncapped resistance.

Penetration causes the specified amount to be subtracted from the target's corresponding Resistance when determining the damage they take from a Hit, to a minimum of 0.

thank you. just for curiosity i ran a 25% ele pen map and this is exactly what it felt like. i was getting CHUNKED.
so this mod is essentially the worst mod you can get on maps, and i'll now be vendoring all maps that have it.

Elemental Pen maps go straight to my Maps - Dumpster stash tab. Usually end up vendoring them once they build up. Easily the worst mod.
