Russia IP Outbound Connections despite using SG servers

I currently have regional blocking in place on my network and pc. Specifically, RU and CN. I've noticed that with RU blocked, I'm getting "Can't connect to instance" errors.

Checking the network logs shows me outbound connections to 4 Russia IPs. Please note that I am playing solo, so I am not playing with anyone within that region.




While I have already fixed this by allowing RU for Path Of Exile 2 specifically, I'd like to understand what these IPs are for and why the game is constantly making outbound connections to them. Below are the IPs for your reference:

I did the check just to confirm my guess.
The first IP in your list that is marked "RU" is in fact:

"

172.241.48.0 - 172.241.49.255
netname: SERVERS-COM-SIN2
country: SG

So it seems like outdated geoip data on your app side.

If your regional blocking is based on the same geoip data then you shooting yourself in the foot.

Interesting. In that case, this thread can be closed, as this is not the concern of GGG/PoE. I'll just have to raise a ticket to the app vendor to correct their regional blocking. Thanks for responding.
