Newbie question

Im still new to poe. But what is the likely final result if you have a magic or rare item with the base stats of armour: 92 and evasion rating: 84. What will those raise to after you upgrade it to rare and get all affixes and quality up to 20% ? Is there a calculation for that ? Its hard to tell what will be better than what i currently have on thats at 20% quality as far as those two stats go

You'll learn, but its a learning curve. Check out poe2db or craft of exile to look at affixes on gear.

But in a quick tutorial/guide:

All white-colored gear (common) with same name will have same exact stats. Quality increases the base value. To get higher base stats, tou need to progress through the game to unlock "advanced" and "expert" gear. They have higher base stats and higher requirements.

Blue-colored (magic) and yellow-colored (rare) gear have a pool of modifiers called affixes (or sometimes mods) that can be randomly rolled when you identify the gear.

Blue gear gets 2 affixes. One prefix and one suffix.
Yellow gear gets 6 affixes. 3 prefix and 3 suffix.

Depending on the affixes that the gear comes with, they could increase the base stat of the gear itself, or provide your character with stats or skills.

In your case, you'd want to increase your gear by finding gear with either +x armour or +evasion rating.

Those stats hardly matter, in most cases.
especially early on when you dont have a solid build direction yet.
if you not making build that FOCUS in stacking armor/eva/energy shield, then those stats are not the focus on items.

Instead, life and resists came first as top priority. And movement speed is top priority on boots.

Life and movespeed both are prefix
+armor, armor%, +eva, eva%, +es, es%, etc also are prefix
And there are dozen of other prefixes

They conflict with each other, and you can only have 3 prefix on rare item
So trying to get the best combo can be hard.

Hold ALT key when hover on item, at the right side of each modifier will tell you its prefix or suffix and of what tier. Higher number is higher tier in poe2, this is different in poe1 where it was the reverse.
