Shift click should always attack

I'm playing the game without WASD and I've noticed that when I use shift click to attack, and my cursor is on an item on the ground it does not attack. Shift+click should ALWAYS attack imo. I've died several times because of this.

Agreed. Shift + click should attack even when hovering over a breakable. PoE 1 does this just fine, but PoE 2 just stands there like a dummy. :)

There is an option that requires you to hold a modifier button to pick up items.
But this option won't save you from interactable objects like levers and pots.
This is so weird to be honest. Currently I'm just avoiding using left click for dps skills.
