Items disappeared after trade

Good evening Sirs,
after splitting 4 exalted orbs by a stack of 20 with the trade window already opened, I successfully completed a trade and thought that everything was fine.
Sadly, there was no trace of the 16 exalted orbs that should have remained afterwards.
Just to be sure that I can only say goodbye to those ex, since I'm confident to have finalized the trade after having checked to be giving 4 orbs.
