What's going on with trading?

This might be the first time I've ever had difficulty trading in POE since it's release.

I'm pricing very good items at reasonable prices and no one is buying anything. Sometimes even undercutting the next best item by more than I should. I'm practically giving stuff away, yet no one is messaging. Don't get me wrong, you can sell an astramentis, ingenuity, or dream fragments almost immediately, but high and mid tier rares are just stagnating in my bank.

So my main question is, what is going on with the trading scene right now? My friends and I have some ideas, but I was just curious what the rest of the community has to say about it.

You probably are selling items, that only underperforming classes would use. I have seen statistics, where 4 classes are played by 85% of all players in trade league. GGG refused to nerf those classes or to significantly buff the other classes so the gap gets only bigger.

That's a good point. A lot of my higher tier rares are armour based. But a lot of the items I'm not able to move are generic items like high tier rings and amulets. While that could be part of the issue, It feels like there's definitely something else going on.

It's almost as if people don't know how to search for these items on the site. Or aren't getting the currency drops to justify a big purchase. Maybe people are dead set on their build guide and only buy items that fit perfectly. It's hard to say exactly what the issue is.
The whole thing is evolving. For starters, lots of players have quit or are sitting out until a reset and/or balancing patch takes place. As such, less high end rares are needed and most people playing already have 2-3 or more toons that are 80+ with decent gear. So unless your items are truly exceptional or needed by people playing the main builds like Spark, then it's probably not going to sell at this point and you're just wasting your time listing them. Having half the players playing Spark also means that if your item doesn't in some way benefit lightning damage then there's a good chance it won't sell.

My suggestion is to only post the best items you have and underprice them to just dump them so you can convert more currency into divines as quickly as possible. Also, don't leave empty space on your rares as most players won't want to take the time to craft themselves. Toss an exalt or two on it, put a socket in it and some more resists to make it as juicy as possible and so it'll show up in more people's searches for their ideal item. My two cents.
drop the price even more then

i keep looking for upgrades to my gear, and anything that is remotely better than like my 100 ex item is several divines. the gap is just insane. its either basically trash or awesome and expensive
doesn't really seem to be much middle ground

i've had inquiries about an xbow i'm selling, sadly only when i'm away. not really selling much, as i'm in acts still, lol. i've kind of back burnered for a bit. yeah, until things shake out, might be slow.
For me, it falls into several different reasons...

1. If its not spark, minion, monk or attribute stacker, its bot likely going to sell.
2. Because of popularity of certain build archetypes, only certain mods are desired right now. Boots with no MS are worthless. Weapons with no +skill, +phys, +skills, +speed arent worth it. Etc etc.
3. Lack of diversity. We are missing several key skills from poe1 that will likely make a return as EA progresses (or at launch). With new skills/gear, more builds become viable and so more affixes will become wanted. Right now everything is phys, lightning, speed, +skills.
4. Bots, pricefixing, and skilled farmers are driving the value of gear up. Its harder to find low-mid tier gear while high value gear is pure RNG with current crafting system.
5. streamers, content creators and build guides are listing BiS gear with no alternatives so lesser gear is unwanted.
6. New players dont know how to use trade site. Trade site is highly customizable when looking for gear. A lot of players dont know how to search for gear effectively, nor is there any real way of filtering out the silent farmers/pricefixers. As "league" goes on, mappers also dont feel like wasting there time to stop for a cheaper item.
