Grenade to Tempest Flurry Merc, I messed up need help!

Hello everyone, I wanted to switch from a Gas+Explosive grenade build to a Tempest Flurry build. The builds I've seen in the game and in videos were extraordinary. I haven't fully completed the transition yet; I haven't placed some gems and supports, and I'm testing at every stage whether it will be like what I saw in the videos. However, in its current state, my character is in terrible shape. I'm following this build based on this video. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d49EV2iMUio ) I have some questions for you:

The Tempest Flurries I saw in the game and videos move very fast on the map. Why is my character so slow? I guess it's because the staff doesn't have attack speed runes or Is this speed provided by a support or gem I haven't used yet?

My ranged attack doesn't look like what I saw in the videos, and I can't perform a ranged attack while using Tempest Flurry.

My damage is 16k, but the budget builds I saw in the videos have 100k. There's no significant difference between the lightning damage modifiers on their rings and mine. Why am I stuck at 16k while theirs is 100k?

Since I messed up the character yesterday, I haven't been able to play. I'm starting to wonder if I should give up and go for a Galvanic Shards build instead. Maybe this build could work, I’m not sure

First of all, u r not gemling. i understand this can be played on any ascendancy as the items enabling the build r just so broken, but u seem to struggle anyways so not being gemling and missing %attr from ascendancy as well as bonuses from attr, and gem quality doesnt help u.

u do not have a single jewel socketed in ur tree.

u cannot use charged staff as u do not have combat frenzy (or any way to generate frenzy charges->power charges) from what u show in the vid.

u do not have herald of ice nor herald of thunder equiped which is why ur clear will be trash.

i suggest u look at the guide u linked in ur post over at maxroll, and try to match that. ur missing a bunch of stuff.

Thank you for your response. I’m just curious—once I complete the missing pieces, including the jewels, can I become as powerful as in the video with the gear I currently have, or will I need to spend another 3-4 divines? There’s a huge difference between 16k damage and 100k damage. Can I bridge this gap by changing gear, or will completing the missing gems, supports, and jewels bring me closer to 100k


I guess it might be better to give up on this and switch back to Galvanic. It makes more sense for Witchhunter anyway, What do you think about this?

me personally, i would not force attr stacker on an ascendancy that's clearly worse in every way than the gemling for it. so yes, id say u'll have more luck playing the other build. if u dont wanna level another char that is.

there is nothing wrong with the tempest flurry guide u linked. u r just missing bunch of stuff stated in the guide that's all.

so yes, ultimately, switch back to what u r more comfortable with. once u understand the game better feel free to try out tempest flurry again on a fresh char.
