What are the best classes for playing with a frost mage or an ice monk ?

Hello everyone,

it's all in the title. My wife and I play couch co-op and now that our builds are almost final, it's clear they don't go together. The mage prevents the monk from freezing his enemies and gaining power charges.

We could switch to a spark mage or shock monk, but the gameplay doesn't appeal to us.

So we're looking at which classes would synergize best with one of our two current builds, so we can finish the campaign and tackle the endgame.

We've just tested a fire build for the witch, with the aim of going for an infernalist.

According to the experts, could a fire-based Infernalist build have interesting synergies with a cold-based Sorceress build ?

Fire spells are one of the weakest categories of damage in the game. They're slow and have zero defense as it in you're not freezing/electrocuting anything. They have lower crit and are harder to scale. I would avoid fire spells right now until they either rework the spells or add another ascendency/class that specifically does well with them because infernalist is not it.

If one of the classes is an ice strike monk, something with lightning would be ideal for shock (more damage to enemies). The witch in general sucks right now outside of minions. Demonform is difficult to use, rippy, and very hard to maintain more than 100-150 stacks. A poison deadeye/pathfinder would be something that might work well. Obviously anything with lightning like galvanic shards mercenary or spark sorc are strong choices.

Finally, by changing the monk's build to a tempest flurry build, the synergy with the ice sorceress is impressive.

The characters are already very powerful when they're alone, but the duo seems even more so.

We'll see if it stays that way in cruelty and, above all, when we start the endgame.
