Even GGG doesn't have the answer to your question ^^. More seriously I have the same problem with unexplained deaths, I still hope that this kind of one shot will be resolved because past lvl 90 the 10% less experience becomes frustrating

After the patch this was the first one where even watching the video afterwards I couldn't tell. And pre-patch it was a known issue that some delayed explosions were invisible.

Deli certainly doesn't help with visibility but damn, I would die to this 10/10 times. No chance to see it or pause once the damage comes in.
Watched the video, it wasn't a one shot, you took 4-5 steps of damage in quick succession. I feel like maybe there was a ground pool you also stepped on.

Unfortunately we cant see ground effects with the delirium fog and despite seeing several debuff icons appear for a split second, I can't tell you what those debuff icons mean because there is literally 0 information I could google that explains what a single debuff icon represents, it's impossible to hover over them in game when they only are present during fights and disappear quickly, and GGG thinks its f**king brilliant to never explain a single one of them.

So the best answer I can give you is it has something to do with a dude having a flashlight stuck in his forehead, a bale of hay on fire in a tornado, and a zombie getting rained on while it's 8% humidity outside.

Also I wasted an hour of my life looking for info that doesen't exist, yet should, because of a**hole game design.

the left one is chill (probably from chilled ground). it just slows me down a bit.

the middle one is blind, which does nothing to me (reduces accuracy, irrelevant for a caster)

the right one i don't know. i've seen it before in PoE1, maybe a phys degen?

this one is ignite. in my first post i assumed it was a fire explosion that killed me, because i got ignited. but the map had damage as extra fire, so the original damage source might have been something else. the added fire damage from the map mod could still have ignited me.
ES doesnt like being burned (from any source). I sell all "has burning ground" maps. Or use reduced burn on boots.

Your Thawing Charm proccs after a very large hit and then the ignite kills you.

Due to the fog I cannot see what caused it. But I would assume a big cold hit + added fire damage from waystone affix for the ignite.

Maybe one of those monsters? I am not sure if they spawn inside a regular breach or only if you a breachstone. The attacks would seem plausible.

In the video something forms behind your character just before you die. Could resemble something like a bonestorm. So maybe the first monster?

Edit:
Or maybe not even the ignite but many hits in succession.

Yeah burning ground is pretty brutal with ES, but there was no burning ground in the map mods.

Well spotted, didn't see that myself.

As for what did the damage, I thought maybe some deli "apparition" that sometimes appear, though they usually don't do that much damage.

The damage numbers on those breach mobs look insane! 34k top end is nuts even with mitigation. That would vertainly explain the first big hit.
