Can archmage cause shock?

Noob question, just trying to do some homebrew and I'm not entirely clear on the ailments mechanics overall.

I'm mainly using frost skills on my sorceress, but if I use archmage, will it be able to cause shock on it's own? If not can it do it with added passives that like increase chance to shock or whatever? Or maybe there's something else that can enable shock? Or do I need to be using lightning skills that explicitly say it will shock to cause shock?

All lightning damage can shock. So Archmage can shock.
Cold damage with increased change to shock will not shock.
A cold spell with archmahe will have a chance to shock since a part of the damge deal will be lightning (and at end game most of the damage will be lightning, since manastacking will be the way to go higher in dpos with +level of skill to up the base damage).
And to complete the precedent post, even if you do just a small part of lighting dmg, you would have a chance to shock, but very very small. The more dmg you do in an element, the more chance you have to do ailment with it.

If the damage is too low it won't Shock , especially against Bosses because they got "-x% chance to get ailments" defenses .
