'Linked' Steam account doesn't seem linked

Hi,
When I played POE1 I played on the GGG platform. I bought early access POE2 via Steam. I followed instructions to link account, and both accounts are now listed on the POE home page - it tells me which I am logged into and lets me switch between the two. When I go to the account management page it shows my Steam account there. But I do not have any of the stash tabs I bought in POE1 in my POE2 account, nor any cosmetics - even those which I can see others already using in POE2, so must be transferable. Also, when I bought a currency stash tab on POE2, it took the coins twice. I have emailed support on this but not received a response. Grateful for advice. Thanks. Purchases are bound to the account (or sub-account) they were purchased on, so you'll need to ensure you are playing using the appropriate account in order to use your purchases. I hope this clarifies things!

Ok. So what is the point of linking a Steam account to an original POE account? I had understood that linking was effectively merging them into one account.
