Plaguefinger with Poison Gas Arrow

Not sure if this is the right sub forum to ask questions. Feel free to point me in the right direction if it isn't.

Does the unique item Plaguefinger work with the skill Poison Gas Arrow? Specifically the Poision Cloud of the arrow. Plaguefinger says it makes all damage *from hits* (including elemental damage on the bow/quiver etc.) contribute to poison magnitude. Poison Gas Arrow specifies in the Poison Cloud part of the skill, that it is *not hitting* but poisons enemies *as though hitting*.

I was under the impression that it works and my elemental damage makes the poision from the cloud stronger. But in the advanced info window the damage of the poison cloud does not change. Is the info from the window incorrect or is it really not working?
