Check Key with out redeeming now invalid

Hello,
I have received a key from my friend to use on the website. I went through the process of "check key" however I accidentally closed the tab with out clicking redeem. Now I am unable to redeem that key due to it showing up as "invalid" and it does not appear in my steam. Is there any thing I can do to resolve this? Thank you!
