One Does Not Simply...Divine a Corrupted Unique

Or did they change how divines work, can they be used on corrupt items now? Haven't logged in yet, just wondering when I do, will my upgrade-able Unique item that is corrupt be bricked behind being corrupt. GGG Why divine them, why not a new currency item (bought with golds from gambling/currency merchants to make the upgrade with, and just flag it only usable with specific items, for example the unique items that were changed in the latest update)?
