Same thing just happened to me. Asala stood there auto attacking the boss while the storm killed me. Never put the shield up.

I hit this bug today as well. RIP
Seemed like it happened pretty fast, like within the first 15-20 seconds of the fight. There was no shield graphic but Asala was in the right spot auto-attacking. | |

Bump - just happened here as well. She stopped attacking and put the shield up finally about 3 seconds after the wind had finally killed me.

This is so frustrating. This NEEDS to be fixed AS
 APShe never put her sword up. I stood on her right side and just got melted. |
