Each tier of a map should be +2 lvls instead of +1, change my mind

I just went back on my warrior to level him up some. Everything was going fine from lvl 70 to 80ish. Progress is slow, I have no MF, so no items, but at least I get exp. Made me feel like I'm progressing.

Now that I've hit lvl 85, mapping on warrior is such a chore. I can't even imagine pushing him past 90, knowing how bad exp gain after is.

In the recent interview devs acknowledged that lower tier mapping feels kinda wrong. Wouldn't more people be kept at their respective lower maps if the level of monsters ramped up?

So instead of 65 to 80, they went from 65 to 92/95.

Late game is all about builds and items found. I don't even understand why lvl 100 should be kept behind such a brutal exp lock. Are 10 passive points really such a power spike?

Level 100 shouldn't be the goal really. I agree with what they said in the interview that there has to be more narrative content after the campaign is finished to ease you into maps. That will fix it I think. Now it's just bam campaign done good luck.

no theyre quite trivial in the grand scheme.

but thats sort of the point. those last 10 levels are there for people who want to play their character that long. once you hit level cap you cant get xp, the character is over cause getting xp is part of the fundamental gameplay loop.

those passives are not much power, and thats why no one really needs them. theyre just there for people who want to do that grind. its not for everyone.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I see what you are saying. It seems to me it's too penalizing for casual players and people who don't play meta builds.

The way I see it is if a league last let's say 6 months before a new one comes along, I'll never in the span of this game achieve a lvl 100 on any character. Just don't have time for it. But maybe it's important for people who play a lot to have these bragging points. Fair enough.

I just wish that I had some kind of reward to work toward while playing a slower character.
i played poe1 for 20,000 hours and never hit lvl100 on any character.

to be fair i could have if i used some sort of speed levelling cheese strat or had really really wanted to get there. but you dont rly play a lvl100 character, theres no point, and i never really wanted to 'end' any of my characters if that makes sense?

if level 100 was an easy as getting to level 90 then the really good players would be hitting lvl100 before they went to bed on the opening day of a league. lvl100 is a couple of passives that dont rly matter, but ending their character progression day 1 instead of day 12 or whatever is a really big deal to those people.

you essentially just kill a big part of the game for anyone whos really good at it.

leagues are 3 months long, for me i have a softcap of about 92-95 in a league. ill probably just start a new character by the time i get that far if i still want to play more. i will level characters i enjoy to 98-99 when they get back to the permanent standard league over time.

Is level 100 really killing the character progression though?

If I could hit 100 it would simply be the point where I know I've exhausted any character power in the tree, so I can focus on endgame bosses and items.

So a league lasts 3 months. Then it would be reasonable that a pro should be able to get it in a couple of weeks, but the more casual non-op population should have a chance to get at least 1 character to 100 in 1-2 months too imo, so they can see their character maxed before getting into a new league.

The idea I am trying to convey is that playing a non-meta build that doesn't wipe screens of stuff at once starts feeling so tedious. Slowly you are being pushed towards a meta build, because otherwise your progression is slowed down to an absolute crawl.

And the meta people will always have their fun regardless of how fast they got to 100 (that's my ASSumption at least, no offense meant).

You have to understand one thing, it takes as long to get 99-100 as it does to get 1-90+ this is primarily because not only do you need a load more XP to get level 100, you also get far less per mob killed.

So in effect yes it would kill the progression, by the time you actually reach 95 in PoE2 you'll already have your best in slot gear or at least extremely close to it. So 95-100 is just a vanity project for the vast majority of people that actually try to push for 100.

"These go to eleven"
i find getting 100 a standalone achievement. If i can hit 100 in a few days - what whould i do next? Quit for sure.

So let there be some grind-purpose achievement. (also +10 skill point from 90 to 100 is fine bonus for those who spend those many time in a game, yet most build work fine at 70-80 skillpoints used)
Okay you mostly did change my mind.

I'll just stay a little salty, because as you said it's a vanity project for the 1%. Where as those extra 10 points will really help me with my build and I would have a purpose in grinding slowly but steadily.

And if I reach 100 and it still doesn't work, I can just start a new toon, try something else. In any case I'll stay behind the fact that a semi-casual player should be able to hit 100 in 2-3 months.

If I ever stop playing this game it certainly won't be because I've hit max level on one character.
