Question regarding Bleed and Energy Shield

The ingame explanation about Bleeding states that ;

"..Damage from bleeding bypasses energy shield."

But there is another line that also states

"... Only damage to life will contribute to bleeding."

So if I were to take a damaging hit that inflicts bleed, but the damage is fully absorbed by Energy Shield, will I get inflicted by bleed ? And if so, will the bleed deal damage over time ?

This is quite abit confusing because the topic that brought up in recent DM / Ghazzy podcast with Mark and Jonathan, since the question didn't specify anything beside "Does bleed damage bypasses energy shield or not ?" , which clearly should based on the explanation of ingame tooltip, but missing the context regarding "damage to life".

If the damage is dealt only to energy shield, then no damage has contributed to bleeding so no bleeding will be applied.

Bleeding bypasses energy shield if it's dealing damage due to already having been applied, such that if you take a big hit, lose all your energy shield and some life, have bleed applied based on the damage dealt to life, and then regain some energy shield.

This is how the tooltips explain it and also mentioned here.

This is significantly different from how it worked in Path of Exile 1 so it's quite likely many people (including the lead developer, who might not have worked closely with these specific changes, instead having a team working on this kind of thing) aren't fully familiar with the differences yet.

Thanks for the quick response, I just want to confirm it because the vague question asked in DM / Ghazzy podcast regarding CI and bleed.
