Life vs. Energy shield - didnt realize it was so bad

Just got my 2nd character to maps and am only now realizing just how bad of a disparity there is between life and energy shield. I'd heard it was bad, but this is ridiculous.

First character focused on life/armour, at level 92 ive got 2700 life after trying my hardest to get it on every piece of gear.

second character is ~70 and after being in maps for an hour has 9000 energy shield while still in mostly gear from the campaign.

I know they said they're buffing armour by ~15%, but did they mention life at all?
