Is the reduced attribute requirements mod just useless?

I'm wondering if this modifier serves any purpose outside of helping warrior builds that are running Giant's Blood. Nearly 200 hours of gameplay in I've yet to encounter a single situation where I'd like to have this modifier roll on anything - but it always rolls at the highest tier on every item where I'd like anything else but this to roll.

Obviously, there are a lot of items which player usually can't use because of the requirements, which this mod can reduce. I don't understand what is confusing about it. But it is for cross classing and if you are rolling item for your primary attribute, ofc you don't want this.

Sure, it technically has a use. Letting you equip something you couldn't otherwise equip.
Helping a Monk equip a mace, helping a two stat character equip a one stat item, so on.

Its just that it's a use nobody will ever care about enough to ever want this modifier on their gear.

That Monk who wants to use a mace is just going to build enough strength to not need the modifier.
That Warrior/Marauder/Merc/Duelist/Templar running Giants blood is just going to build enough strength/dex to not need the modifier.
Those two stat characters are just going to build enough of the one stat to equip the gear.
So on.

Nobody ever wants this mod, they want to have the stat the gear needs and a better modifier...

Fair point, though there was no need to be snarky about it. I suppose whether or not this use-case is useful enough to warrant it being in the pool at all will likely have to be determined once more content has been released.
It's good, actually.
you can want it at low levels.
you can want it to make min requirements on an off stat weapon or armour.
I could see a few uses if you want to use like one item that is off your normal stats. Like my witch uses all int armor, but will use an str-int shield for the block chance. At highest level this shield requires 75 strength. At its most expensive, my support gems only need 65 strength. So reduced attribute would help me.

This is a bad example since I am pretty sure I got bare minimum int and as much strength as I can for more life, but there are other builds that might be in a similar boat where it helps.
In most cases, it's pretty lackluster for sure. There are some cases where this stat can just save you a ton of skill points or stats in gear in order wear certain gear or use gems.

Finding Two Handed maces with reduced att requirement is really good in the endgame due to Giant's Blood Keystone tripling the required str requirement to wield it.

Also consider if your using life and several of your passive stats are dex and int in order for you to use gear/gems. Well its possible you might be able to respec those into str and gain life by respecing unwanted dex/int nodes.

It's ultimately one of those stats that don't sound great on paper but for some builds, that little bit sometimes makes a big difference.
I actually welcomed it by surprise recently when I bought a chest with it without noticing my old one had 30 dex on it, same base I could wear the new one but after taking it off not the old one

Sure I could go and buy something with dex on it or jig about with my passives but came in handy as it was
reduced requirements is actually quite good for "cross class" builds.

for an example if you wanted to play an armored caster.

to me i feel that its just a nice little bonus but in most cases its a bad mod because at higher levels, relying on such a mod would mean you would want it everywhere.

for example if you play a mace with armor. both requires strength. naturally to use the best mace you need 230 str, having that amount of str you would be able to equip any str armor in the game.

but if instead you had one with a reduced attribute mod. you only need maybe 180 str to equip the mace. sounds good but then you still need 230 str to equip the best str armour. so the problem is still there.

unless you get the mod on all str gear, you cannot benefit from using "only" 180 str. and if you do somehow pull it off, switching to new gear would require you to get that mod on that piece of gear so you can still benefit from running lower str.

it doesnt stop there tho.

if you want to run the best skill gems (skills usually tied to the weapon class) you're more or less forced to get 230 str anyway in order to use the lvl 20 version of them.

so despite having it's uses. its not entirely too good.
