Tempest bell not building combo after upgrading quality

As per the title. For some reason, I couldn't build combo points on tempest bell (lvl 19) anymore after upgrading the quality. Tested with normal staff attack, tempest furry, all to no avail. Also tested removing all support gems, and also tried the gem that gave 40% chance added combo points. Nothing worked.

I recrafted Tempest bell and the new bell (with no quality) worked as per normal.

Thank you for this, I was almost going crazy trying to figure out why my flicker strike doesn't generate combo points for my tempest bell

As OP said, please don't quality your Tempest Bell

EDIT: I can't believe this bug is left in the game for almost a year !!!!!!!!

As today, this bug happened to me also. It is still relevant! At least with Gemlings new alternative quality skills.
