Quest Item Dropped on Map Boss Death and so did I

I died to a boss' DOT just after killing him. This was in a "map" or "waystone." He dropped the Vanqauisher's Book of Knowledge I. Will I be able to get another boss to drop it? I don't want to lose out on the passive points.

If you were in a map then you have to kill it again.
