POE1: A New Players First Game Playthrough...
If a brand new player just wants to play POE1 through the story and not so much grind the end game, what is the best way for them to get started? Just SSF (Solo Self Found)? Do they need to join the league with the short time that is left in it? I have a friend that just wants to play through the first game before he starts grinding in POE2.

" I have a nagging suspicion that the Settlers league will drone on for a while still since they've *still* not announced anything with regard to 3.26 so starting in Settlers doesn't seem like a terrible idea. If it does end, you'll just be pushed into Standard anyway. So choosing Settlers blocks nothing while standard blocks the potential to enjoy the league mechanic. |

As for playing SSF, I suggest playing "normal" PoE, to get a baseline of what the game is like. Then, if you really feel the need, you can try SSF. =^[.]^=
