Hacking cases still a concern? and relevant to poe1?

Hi there,
I've heared about the hacked accounts in poe where people got apperently access to the account data though ingame trading.
Is this still a thing or was it at any point even relevant to poe1?

Atm I'm unsure about going into trades cause of this storys.

This was discussed on yesterdays Twitch stream with Mark, Johnathan, DarthMicroTransaction and GhazzyTV. GGG explained the situation very openly and will be releasing a statement soon. The situation has been dealt with and had nothing to do with ingame trading.
