This is annoying af

Hey guys, I'm loving the game! Tbh best game I've ever played. I'm a stickler for open world rpgs but I was also a dark souls fan and this game fits as ace ventura used to say "liiiike a gallove".
With that said I usually have to press a to open my stash (I'm on Xbox) and I end up trying to open a character menu on people standing around the stash when I'm just trying to stash some stuff and sell and go back to what I was doing. There are usually 2-3 people minimally around the stash and I have accidentally almost invited several to a party. Is there a way to change "button mapping" or can you make it so we have to press "start" or the two windows adjacent to each other on Xbox?
Would be really cool if you did!!
