Map design/size
I was worried about the design of maps since before release. Due to the alleged slower pace and more tactical gameplay.
Which wouldn't work well in claustrophobic maps made up of tiny corridors and paths. (makes the visual clarity issues a lot worse too) That type of gameplay didn't pan out at all, and it's actually even worse than PoE 1 in some regards of build power and speed clear meta, deleting screens and bosses. So it's not a problem in that regard(unless you are playing melee, as usual, then it can be hell). There is a different problem. Bigger monsters that can't even walk through the corridors and paths of various maps. One solution would be to make those monsters not spawn on certain maps. However, I would much prefer new or reworked maps that are more open. So you can actually utilize gameplay mechanics. (combos, positioning, dodging, deal with the rare mob mods, most of which force you to move - none of this works when you are in a tiny corridor with rare mob right in front of you and nowhere to move. With ranged, doesn't matter ofc. Just pew pew while staying away from the danger. With melee? Uh, how do I even attack? Just use your "melee" ranged skills, great. And spend 5 times longer than a ranged char in many cases). Even though I doubt the gameplay will change from being PoE 1 like. Still, less claustrophobic maps feel much better for gameplay. In terms of scale too. On top of that there are terrain elements that block you, but it's not visually clear at all (it's also just obnoxious). Last bumped on Jan 9, 2025, 3:10:34 AM
