Spell Cascade & spell "limits"? (such as Firestorm)

If I'm using a Firestorm that has a maximum amount of allowed storms out (like default's 3x, or Pelting's 10x), do Spell Cascade "copies" take up these slots?

For firestorm in particular, I think it's bugged and +limit doesn't even work.
