Make nodes harder, instead of wiping their bonuses, on death
The idea is to make them more difficult and maybe even a little more rewarding, due to the increased difficulty.
It would fit the lore better: "you've failed, and the corruption has spread". It would not instantly become a viable way to "juice up" maps, as the experience penalty and expenditure of waystones would still be there. It would also make the one attempt per map more reasonable, as there's a good justification for someone to not be able to just run back and get the loot - die - rinse, repeat. If the player has made the map too difficult by dying too much in it, they could "unbrick" the node by playing a lower waystone tier, until they get to finish it. I believe this would be a new fun mech for people to play with and, perhaps, would even address the "concerns" that some players have about death penalties (which I personally believe should be punishing). It's at least a small relief to know that the bonuses applied to a node aren't another loss in the package, and brings excitement for a new challenge when a death does occur. Maybe extra content like Breaches and Deli could go, as those are potentially exploitable. But maybe there's a way to make the repetition of that content viable, as well. Thats a decent idea and good start to lessen the blow of dying, especially on a boss map or a Citadel. At least youd get to try again with the bonuses intact, albeit the map will be harder but thats a fair trade. Sometimes you just die on accident and not necessarily because the map was legit to difficult, or maybe there were latency issues, or it could be any number of reasons so at least this could help mitigate that. And like you said if its bricked from to many deaths you can add a key to unbrick and then you lose everything tied to the map.
