Enlighten me - Map Events
Can someone help me better understand the map events? Rituals allow you to buy items, including Omens, which are only available there, right? Is there anything else special about Rituals? Do the monsters that spawn in Rituals have the same level as my map or higher? I feel like I gain more experience when I do all kinds of events except Strongboxes.
Irradiated is self-explanatory; all monsters are one level higher. Is there anything else worth knowing about it? Expedition can drop Expedition Maps, but I haven't found them very rewarding so far. I haven't discovered anything special there. Is there something I'm missing? Also, a question about Expedition: do the bonuses I choose before detonating apply to all monsters on the map? Should I always clear the rest of the map before doing Expeditions? Delirium should be activated at the start to kill more, which gives better rewards. Delirium is the only event that really feels good to do. What’s your opinion on that? Breach gives us Breach Splinters, which let us use the Demon Gate. The encounters are very short, and depending on the map and obstacles in the way, I get between 5 and 20 Splinters. The experience gain seems good, though. Is there any other point to this event? Catalyst drops seem “special,” but I don’t see much benefit. For example, to increase an amulet’s mana from 120 to 122, I have to use quite a few, and the effect feels pretty insignificant. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry for all the questions; I’m just really interested in better understanding my options in the late game. Thanks! Last bumped on Jan 8, 2025, 10:24:56 AM

Ritual is good for exp because you kill the monster twice. They are the same level.
In expedition log book areas you have a chance to fight a boss....if he spawns. Beating him allows you to put points into the Expedition portion of the Atlas passive tree. The modifiers only apply to expedition mobs. Delirium is good if your build can clear fast. Breach, just as Delirium is good only if you can clear fast. The faster and more mobs you kill the better drops....in theory. Splinters are good to get and farm the Boss. Again, the boss area needs to be cleared before timer runs out so be fast, only then can you actually fight the boss. Catalysts only seem worth it to use on breach rings, as they can go to 50 quality |

Ritual can also contain a bossing item and scales best with pack size modifiers. Make sure to defer (pay small price to see the item cheaper at a later time) expensive items a lot and plan accordingly before rerolling rewards as to not lock yourself out from buying.
Omens are indeed only available from rituals and the ritual boss. Irradiated(and corrupted) also allows higher tier waystones to drop because of the increased monster level and it is something you should go after. Expedition maps (logbooks) can contain the boss (rng). Sadly, the crafting through expedition NPCs is a bit weak currently. Expedition modifiers you choose before detonating only apply to expedition monsters. Delirium is good and fairly straight forward but also dangerous and for some players even annoying because of the pushing. You can use the distilled emotions not just to instill your amulet for a notable from the passive tree but also instill maps for additional modifiers in case you haven't figured that one out yet.
Instilling maps
Breach has by far the most monsters, meaning highest amount of exp and global drops like regular currency as well as gold. It also scales exponentially with build power. You'd focus on this mechanic when your build is really good at clearing fast but might struggle with bosses. Catalysts give you a 20% increase (50% for breach ring base) to a stat-type. You wouldn't really only use 1-2 catalysts but rather max it out or don't bother at all.
Catalyst example
I'm using lightning catalysts to modify all ele res, lightning res and flat lightning at the same time, giving me an additional 41 resistances and 2-32 lightning damage to attacks just from the catalysts. |

Oh, I didn’t know you could use instilling on maps.
I haven’t even figured out how to get a passive skill with it that’s far away from my other skills. When do you use instilling on maps? Is it worth it for Citadels? So, there are only bosses in map events for Expedition and Rituals? None in other events? What are they good for—just to spec into the skill tree, I assume? Thanks for your answers, very helpful already! |

Ritual, Expedition, Delirium, Breach all have Bosses and beating those bosses gives you points for their respective Atlass Passive trees.
For Ritual you have to purchase the item (an audience with the king)to summon the boss, with tribute...it's RNG so good luck. You have to use that item in a Realmgate (found on the Endgame map) For Expedition you have to find him in loogbooks...again, RNG For Breach you need 100 splinters to get a Breachstone: the boss is inside....if you manage to clear the breach before the time runs out. Again, use the Breachstone in a Realmgate For Delirium you need 300 simulacrun splinters to get the item needed for the "boss" encounter. Again, use it in a Realmgate. All those encounters give you points for their respective Atlas passive trees, making the encounters harder but more rewarding....Also, some unique items can only be found there. |

Wait what ? there are 2 different types of Splinters to collect ?
I thought it`s always "breach splinter" that drop from breach and deririum ? What are the ones called you need 100 of ? I don`t think I ever saw them Oo |

" Yes the delirium monsters can drop Simulacrum Splinters I think. I instill my maps with +60% rare monsters, you get a lot of Simulacrum Splinters which I sell for exalts. |

Oh yea thanks, they stack up to 300 too.
They went directly into my Delirium Tab, never realized them ;D Hey one more thing; How do you use the Instilled ingredients to unlock not connected nodes in the passiv skill tree ? I saw people do that but never understod how it works. Not sure if I can use it already but I would like to try! |
