BUG: Almost nothing works with Infernal Legion Support
After reading about the improved Infernal legion (compared to POE 1) on POE 2, I went and started an minion Infernalist, focused on making tanky minions to slowly kill of with Infernal Legion (IL for short), basically trying to make a legion of RF skeletons.
Thinking that surely, everything fire and ignite related would work with IL, and since it has every minion losing max life/s, I believed that every minion would be doing the max life as ignition damage every second. I finally got to testing everything that would relate, when I got to lvl 3 support gems. I had posted here in the forum the partial results some weeks ago, but now I have finaly tested everything. Everything was tested in act 1 cruel, with damage being done to Moira, the boss in Clearfell. With IL socketed on skill gem skeletal warriors. Here are the things that do work (and by work, I mean they do increase IF damage and other effects): • increases to minion fire/all resistences does reduce IL damage dealt to minions. • effects of other skills that rely on having an ignite on an enemy (such as Stormfire support) do work on enemies affected by IL ignitions Here are the things that don't work: • more minions: increasing the amount of minions doesn't increase the dps done by IL. This most probably comes from IL damage being done by ignition, and ignitions only mattering for the single instance of more damage dealt. With that being said, all minions affected by IL do lose life, even if only 1 of them does the IL damage in a single target situation. • increases/more minion damage do nothing to increase IL damage. Tested with both a scepter with increased allied damage, pain offering and Feeding Frenzy, with no changes to dps on boss life, but Feeding frenzy does make minions take more IL damage. • increases/more minion life do not increase IL damage. Tested with both a increased max minion life scepter and and Meat shield support, nothing changed dps done to boss life. Makes me believe that it only counts base life, and not total minion life. • Fire exposure support isn't applied with IL, but is with Infernal Hound. • Immolate makes so that IL doesn't do it's area damage anymore, but still consumes life/s (working as intended). If Immolate is socketed in Infernal Hound, it stops doing it's area ignition, but if IL is also socketed, both Immolate and IL work at the same time. • Fiery death didn't trigger not once on 20+ kills, on both IL and Infernal Hounds. Leading me to believe that simply doesn't work on IL, and Infernal Hound. • Flammability (the curse), and by extent, reductions to fire res don't increase IL dps. Absolutely no idea why. • Effects to increase ignition magnitude (tested with Searing Flame support) don't seem to work on neither IL nor Infernal Hound. • Because of the difficulty inherent to testing, I can't confirm if increases to minion area of effect affect IL, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work. At the moment, the best use of IL is to kill your own minions quickly (if you didn't invest in minion res) to use Cast on Minion Death, because there is no way to increase the damage dealt by IL, besides maybe increasing the skill gem lvl of the minion you use IL with. There is also a small balance/disingenuous wording/false promises regarding the effect of the damage dealt: " Since the damage dealt is dealt via ignition (counting as having a "hit" equal to 20% of the minion's maximum Life, as written, not as found by testing), as an basic ignition (i.e, not having any other modifiers) it's damage is 20% of the hit that caused the ignition per second, for 4 seconds total. With IL "hit" that causes ignition being 20% max minion life, it in reality deals 4% (20% [of ignition] of 20% [minion max life]) of the minion's max life as damage each second. Breaking the apparent equilibrium that the skill seams to promisse (until you get 80% fire res on minions, bringing the damage dealt to your minions to also be 4% max life/s. Thank you for testing. I would think it should scale with current maximum minion life, not base life. In Infernal Hound tooltip as you gain hp the "as though dealing x fire damage" does increase. This line doesn't show up on other minions when you slot infernal legion.
Not totally related, I am interested if this is actually increasing damage from infernal hound ignite and if it can scale with fire% or anything for that matter. I really want to be able to scale this ignite damage/magnitude and make the dog more than just an ignite enabler. Last edited by HypeDogLives#0081 on Jan 9, 2025, 11:14:51 AM

" I tested the Infernal Hound with most of what I listed for Infernal Legion, and got that many things end up the same as IF: • It's ignition damage (Infernal Hound) isn't increased by slotting IL (since the hound's seem to do damage based on the hound's total life, and not base, as IL seems to count), because the IL ignition damage is probably lower than the hound's own ignition damage. But the hound still takes damage with IL slotted. • The effects to lower the enemy's fire res (such as flammability, or fire exposure) seem to work, making the hound's ignition do more damage. • But effects to increase ignition magnitude (such as searing flame suport) don't work on neither Infernal Hound nor Legion (I forgot to put this initially on the post), but searing flame still lowers the minion's hit damage. Up until now, there aren't any fonts of effects to increase minion's elemental damage (that aren't support gems), but considering that not even increases to all minion damage (wich makes no sense at all) manage to increase IL or Hound's ignition damage, even if there were, they probably wouldn't work. |

Just to add not sure if intended Grim Feast also do not interact with the DEAD minions that died from the support gem.
