Please change this about Hardcore mode

I couldn’t find anyone else discussing this, and I couldn’t locate any relevant threads, so I apologize if this has already been covered. I’d really love to hear the developers’ perspective on this.

Would it be possible for Hardcore mode to work in a way where, if you die, your gold and stash are completely reset and don’t carry over to your next Hardcore character?

Was it like this in Path of Exile 1?

I know this might come across as gatekeeping or overly strict, but it genuinely feels like cheating when you can retain items or currency after dying in Hardcore. If the point of Hardcore is to start fresh after death, shouldn’t it mean starting entirely from scratch?
