"Curse effect modifier" wth does it do?

Ok so i 'm running Blasphemy. And i have Despair socketed in it.

Despair had -16% Curse effect modifier.
If i take the passive "Increased effect of Auras from your skills" i can lower it till it's gone. But it won't go positive. So no "+10 Curse effect modifier" for example. The stat just disappears. And non of the other stats are effected.

So what is the effect of -16% Curse effect modifier and 0% Curse effect modifier? Seems like a stat that should not even show up on the skill.

Anyone? Because atm this a stat with 0 effect on some spells/skills
I have no chance other then -20% effect modifier, then -5% with some gems. +5 with some passives. But i don't se anything change. At + stat's the state completely disappears

Flat, additive and multiplicative stats

Flat stats usually use a form of the word add. They stack additively with other flat stats of the same scope. Resistances are flat stats which use the word increased and are represented as percentages, and so are notable exceptions to the general rules.

Additive stats are usually percentages and use forms of the words increase or reduce. They are summed with other additive stats of the same scope.

Multiplicative stats are usually percentages and use forms of the words more or less. They stack multiplicatively with other multiplicative stats of the same scope. A multiplicative stat's internal ID can usually be identified by the suffix "_final".

What this means in plain English is that you add the various "increased"/"reduced" effects together into a single multiplier, and multiply the base stat by the result, whereas you multiply the base stat by each "more"/"less" effect in turn.

The total stat value can be calculated as the sum of any added stat, multiplied by the sum of all increases and reductions to stat, multiplied by all more and less stat modifiers.

So the wording matters. You need to add up all the "increased aura effect" and "reduced aura effect" percentages and hold that as one value. Then you need to add up all sources of "more aura effect" and "less aura effect" and hold that as another value.

You then take the curse effect of Despair--whatever that is at your current gem level. I'm going to make up what that number is just as an example: let's say -40% to chaos resistance.

Let's also make up a number for your increases/reductions to aura effect and say it's 50%

Let's also make up a number for more/less aura effect and say it's -40%

So Despair would look like the following: -40(1.5)(0.6) or (base % from gem)(increased %)(Less %)
which would give you: -60(0.6)
which is: -36% to chaos resistance to an enemy affected by your Despair.

With that formula, you should be able to calculate this for yourself based on your gem levels, passives and any gear that might affect auras somehow.
