Restart patch, what it actually is?

So its not economy reset which means you keep your currency but do you keep your items, maps, gems etc too?

Does it wipe all characters and you need to make new char?

Seems very weird to me if I have to level again as its been one of the "hardest" part of the game. And if there isnt any new classes coming in next patch it means I will take break till there is.

And if we cant keep our items etc, then its just wise to sell all and wait for the patch? So confused.

Restart patch indicates that this is not a "hotfix," and the server will require a restart. There will be no reset of the economy or any other changes beyond the game content.

So its just server restart, like a longer maintenance, but nothing happens to characters, items etc? Word economy doesnt tell me it includes characters and items but to me economy means only currency.
GGG post says:

"For clarity, a restart patch is a patch that requires the realm/servers to be restarted. It will not be an economy reset."

To give you an example, you know when you are having trouble with your internet and the ISP support asks you to turn off your router for 10 seconds and turn it on again? That's the "spirit" of this. lol

You wont lose anything you have gathered so far or your characters BUT they could very well nerf the living crap out of your build. I think they mentioned economy because there are alot of people crying for them to do it not realizing what it would actually do lol.
All right, thanks for the answers.

I think just hotfix patch would have been better worded as they mentioned hotfixing things. Or simply maintenance patch.
Great game management love everything with the game so far keep up the great work
GGG never wipes, everything gets moved into the dumpster league eventually and you can be dirty and play there all you want, or play the new fresh league every 3-4 months.

This is why the stramcharts for poe1 looks like it does, no one wants to play in an old league with a used up and busted economy. Aside from the dupes and rollbacks every single poe league the economy gets raped eventually.

Only difference now is there is tons of new players not used to it.
