Loot? Orbs? Items? Man stop, I need crafting!

At this point all types of orbs mainly used for trading.
I would like to use those on actual crafting and not trading! As simple as this!

Then use them for crafting?
GGG: Here are orbs you can use for crafting.
Player: Im gonna use them for trading.
GGG: Thats perfectly fine.
Player: I cant craft and its your fault GGG!!!!
Do you have currency to craft your own gear, yes absolutely.
Is crafting efficient, not really.

I can throw a regal +3 Ex at a leveling item or just go buy something better for 1 or 2 Ex.

I wish there was a little more deterministic crafting (crafting bench) to round out the crafting experience. I get more excited finding an Alchemy orb because I only have to slam the item once instead of potentially wasting 3 Ex on an item.

I think crafting in POE1 went a little overboard, but there is likely a happy medium.

Lets be claer.

There were those single digit IQ people who called "chaos spam" crafting in POE 1. I was one of them at some point...

The truth is - this was nothing but playing the slot machine.

The real "crafting", the process where you put "science", and not rely on "random luck", came quite after.

Besides this, right now the MS is mandatory. The magic find is mandatory. And if your class and build needs more than 1 affix, you are pretty much "choice locked".

This system that some people call "CRAFTING", is a mockery of the system that POE 1 has.
It is one giant SLOT MACHINE.
Non recyclable garbage, that needs to be replaced.

The only thing, that comes even "near" POE 1 crafting experience, is the artifact crafting, that lets be honest: is blatant steal from Last Epoch.
(But I do enjoy it.)

So yes. By calling this currency-spam-clown-show "crafting" you are insulting every single POE 1 player.

It is "gambling", son.
Not "crafting".

Right now, when I get item (by item understand "something with value") the big question in my mind is not "how to improve it", because it is clear that I cannot reliably increase its value, using any game knowledge of a sort.

It is "should I get Xd for it, or gamble for Yd with vaal orb".

That is it.
Gamble, gamble, gamble.

Not "roll roll roll> lock affix> use specific currency> change lock to something useless so it> specific currency, change lock to something useful..."

I mean, LUCK is involved in this process. But in this case you need to do some research, prepare for the craft before, and then go for it.

Right now in POE 2 you only need left left finger to click and to sacrifice a goat to Satan by praying for better rolls.

GARABGE SYSTEM.

I am sure they will add it at some point.
Maybe they are working on the bench right now.

Last Epochs crafting system is still miles better. There is some RNG involved still in the rolling but the choice of affixes down to a category (much like the essences) makes it far more deterministic.

POE2 has a lot to learn from LE crafting system.
I agree with the sentiment that crafting is gambling. I believe crafting should come with a skill based system. As you level your crafting the gear should become more and more relevant to each character’s class. Early on in the game crafting should only raise basic stats like attack and defense. As you level up the skill then introduce prefix and suffix mods more relevant to each class you are playing.

As it is, there is no point to crafting as people are just taking their exalted/divine orbs and buying the gear that is relevant to their build. The crafting needs to be more meaningful to the class being played, especially so in SSF.
