"respawn at checkpoint" has killed my character at hardcore

I pressed esc and then "respawn at checkpoint" on a boss fight,
and after I pressed the button, the game resumed and killed my character afterwards.
this led to my hardcore character dying and moving to softcore.

Doesn't "respawn at checkpoint" make my character respawn at checkpoint?

my character was a level 29 stormweaver. pls check this, and move my character back to hardcore league. thank you.

Your character will not be returned to Hardcore, irrespective of how it died, as per GGG policy.
