Practiced combo and crossbow

When I apply practiced combo support gem on my melee, it removed my crossbow ability from the binding screen. Is this normal? There’s no message explaining any nerfs or consequences of applying the support gym. Not a big deal though.

I can chose between using the practiced combo support gem, OR use my corssbow secondary weapon, BUT NOT BOTH.
