rune spike tree bugged act 1

So started a new character, and I got to red vale before even reaching hooded one, I cleared it, got the rune spikes from renly and now the tree is not visible at all, nor is there any sign of hooded one.

I faced a very similar issue today. I went straight to the Red Vale without invoking Una by the Tree of Souls. I got the Runes of Power from the Obelisks of Rust, forged them into spikes with the help of Renly, went to Grelwood, unlocked the waypoint by the tree. The Hooded one was hanging on the tree, but I couldn't interact with the runes, even after invoking Una and listening to her.

I tried to:

1. Exit PoE2, start it again
2. Teleport to Clearfell Encampment, come back to the same instance of Grelwood
3. Teleport to Clearfell Encampment, come back to a new instance of Grelwood
4. Drop the Rune Spikes by the tree of souls, collect them again
5. Drop the Rune Spikes by the tree of souls, teleport to the Red Vale to try to get the runes again, realised that the quest tracker said to go see Renly to get the spikes. I went to see Renly, collected the spikes, teleported back to Grelwood.

To no avail.

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED
I was playing with a friend in local co-op using controllers. After several attempts, we gave up and logged out. ~10 minutes later, I decided to try again by myself using mouse and keyboard and I managed to interact with the tree and use the spikes.
