Starfall crater load time

I just encountered Starfall Crater for the first time. I'm spending over 60 seconds on the load screen before getting in. After finally getting in, I died. Trying to go back in, it's still taking forever to load. Not only that, but my character is there and gets killed, WHILE I'M STILL IN THE LOADING SCREEN! I can hear my character get murdered and can do absolutely nothing about it except avoid the area. What sort of game design is this?

Edit: Finally got in and killed the boss. Loading screen took just a couple of seconds on subsequent attempts after the second.
